How does it feel to seek information in a more digital way? Which of the tools we played with today will be "keepers" for you?

  1. I'm just excited about learning new ways to reach my "Digi Natives" =)

Thank you for opening our eyes and exposing us to the pleathora of information that the internet has to offer.

    I LOVED
    (1) WEBspiration.com -- as I am extrememly visual and can't wait to use this
    (2) MyFamily.com -- which I will be using both for the classroom, myself and my family =)

  2. Finding information in a more digital way is entertaining but also time-consuming and exhausting. There seems to be an overwhelming amount of information to sort through--and technology doesn't always work smoothly or easily--which I find adds to my frusration and fatigue. I need a good book!

  3. This is wonderfully fascinating for me, as I love research. I enjoyed exploring google tools, experimenting with webspiration, and bloglines.
Something that I know that I will use alot of is the myfamily.com website because of its versatile applications.

  4. Seeking information in a more digital way is exciting and overwhelming at the same time. It is exciting to know that the available resources are inexhaustible by any one person. Each process has many steps to learn and remember which can be overwhelming and lead to information overload. The discovery process is interesting, but very time consuming.

I will use family photo site, Google documents, and the new advanced search methods I have learned.

  5. Paula,
I'm enjoying the class. I am learning to use the computer and like, in particular, MyFamily.com...I will use this in my photography class. I also like the things I've learned about Google, as I also teach history.

    I'm looking forward to tomorrow.
I don't have anything to suggest changing.

  7. Being able to obtain information digitally makes me feel like I have the world at my fingertips. It is amazing how fast and efficient it is. I absolutely LOVE it! I have been and most definitely will continue to use most of the tools I have learned today. A few of the tools that were new to me were ITunes and the photostory on MyFamily. I am extremely excited to be able to use these tools to teach next year.

  8. Hi Everyone,
I feel like a novice seeking information digitally. I am far from a Digital Native. It is a good way to get in touch with where the students are when they are learning new material. I feel their pain.
The photo story is an excellent tool for our English Learners. It provides them with the opportunity to use their academic vocabulary when telling the story and selecting the pictures creates a safe non-threatening manner for them. The visuals are the scaffold for their speaking providing them the background knowledge.

  9. I really loved the photo stories! I can see using this with an "All About Me!" unit that I plan to do at the start of the school year. It would be fun to find out how to get pitures of each student's family added and have the children describe each member of the family for a mini-digital story all about their families!
If I time it right, I can try to take each student's picture and insert their first day memories to make a classbook photo story and show it on Back to School Night.

  11. What an exciting day! I already started a doc page with my team teacher so we can start planning for the next year. We have so many ideas but they re never written in the same place! So fun! I also got to share my excel lesson plans for next year. It was so easy. I knew about these resources from college groups but never thought to use it with the teachers. I can' t wait to extend these ideas in a more defined way in my lesson plans! Thank You.
